Buhagiar makes way out of Mariners

Speedy young winger Trent Buhagiar is on the lookout for a new club after Central Coast Mariners confirmed his departure on Friday.

The 20-year-old academy product debuted in January 2016 but found senior opportunities difficult to come by in his final season, managing just four starts.

He made 50 appearances in total for the Mariners and earned a reputation as one of the quickest players in the Hyundai A-League.

Buhagiar also won his first international youth caps during his time in Gosford, forming part of the Olyroos squad that contested the AFC U23 Championship in January.

“The Central Coast Mariners thank Buhagiar for his efforts and wish him all the best on his future endeavours,” the club wrote in a statement.

The change comes as new coach Mike Mulvey continues to mould the squad ahead of his first season at the helm.
