Bruce Kamau’s sensational October

Melbourne City’s Bruce Kamau has enjoyed a fabulous month – it started on the opening night of the season with the Hyundai A-League’s opening goal of Season 13, and has continued ever since.

The speedy winger both goals in City’s 2-0 win over Roar in the opening night of the season – even though he admitted later he didn’t play that well.

Kamau named Hyundai A-League NAB YFOTY nominee for October

Kamau fired City into the lead on the stroke of half-time with a well-placed finish from outside the area against Roar at AAMI Park.

The opening goal of the game and season.

The winger then poked home 15 minutes from time to ensure a very satisfying start – 2-0 to City and Kamau was leading goal scorer!

But more was to come.

Kamau was on target in the Melbourne Derby a week later as City stunned Victory 2-1.

He broke forward with a marauding run from his own half, netting the winner just minutes after Victory had equalised.

What’s also caught the eye aside from the goals has been his workrate. He’s bought into the philosophy of Warren Joyce and is bringing energy as well as goals to the City cause.

City have been on fire in October with four wins from four and so has Kamau – his work against Adelaide when City were down to 10 men showed great commitment last weekend.

A worthy October nominee for the first NAB Young Footballer of the Year of the new season.
