Knox City Soccer Club has won $1,500 worth of football equipment and $1,500 in a NAB Community Fee Saver Account, thanks to Melbourne Victory young gun Leigh Broxham, who is the second nominee for the 2009/10 NAB Young Footballer of the Year.
To acknowledge the vital role junior football clubs play in the development of today-s young stars, NAB will provide the football pack to the junior club selected by each of the six monthly nominees.
Broxham, 21 nominated Knox City Soccer Club as the junior club that supported him best as a young footballer.
“It’s a great honour to be nominated for the NAB Young Footballer of the Year Award,” Broxham said.
“Knox City played a big part in my development and it-s fantastic that thanks to NAB, they-ve been able to share in my success.”
Broxham, along with Sydney FC’s Kofi Danning, will be joined by four additional nominees throughout the Hyundai A-League 2009/10 season in the race to be named the inaugural NAB Young Footballer of the Year.
“NAB is delighted to offer this exciting prize to each month-s nominated junior football club,” NAB Regional Executive Retail VIC Norm Kalcovski said.
“We hope that Knox City Football Club can use this equipment to continue supporting and developing young players as they strive to reach their potential as football stars of the future.”
The $3000 prize will include a package of practical and financial resources from NAB to assist junior clubs in developing champions in the future. The packs will comprise the following:
• Water bottles
• Bottle carriers
• Soccer balls
• Carry bag
• Markers
• Bibs (red and black)
• Winners plaque
• $1500 in a NAB Community Fee Saver Account
Under the NAB Young Footballer of the Year Award format, an expert judging panel will select a monthly nominee throughout the season from August until February, meaning that a total of six junior clubs will win the $3000 pack in 2009/10.
The NAB Young Footballer of the Year will be chosen from the six monthly nominees by a judging panel comprising several experts of the game.
