The Big Blue may just be the most intense rivalry in the Hyundai A-League but it’s nothing compared to life off the pitch for Melbourne Victory veteran Leigh Broxham.
As Broxham prepares to face Sydney FC in the final edition of one of the league’s original derbies for the 2018/19 season, his life away from football puts the game into proportion.

The 31-year old has not one but three children and those children happen to be triplets, a prospect daunting enough for anyone let alone a professional footballer away every second week.
Speaking to melbournevictory.com.au, Broxham said everyday was a unique challenge for himself and his wife Sam.
“It’s definitely tough,” he said.

“As soon as I go home I’m looking after them straight away and we are still trying to get the right amount of rest. Each month is different. When one thing gets easier something else becomes difficult.
“In terms of hobbies, we don’t have time for any. We are just preparing for the next stage of our lives at the moment.”
But amongst the challenges of raising three kids simultaneously, Broxham said there were some amazing moments, including his family making the trip to Newcastle last year to see him win his fourth Championship with Victory.
“Newcastle was awesome,” said Broxham.
“It wasn’t easy getting them all up there either. Flights were expensive, but we just had to make it work.
“The kids were very young and didn’t exactly know what was going on, but those memories will always be there for me and Sam.”
