Skipper Alex Brosque has brushed off any modesty, declaring Sydney FC are good enough to win Hyundai A-League double this season.
The Sky Blues are on a club-record nine-game unbeaten run and have moved up to second spot ahead of Friday night’s clash with Melbourne City FC.
With six rounds to go they appear to be peaking at the right time, which has Brosque and his team-mates confident of going all the way over the final two months of the season.

If anyone knows what it takes to win the double it’s Brosque, who was part of Sydney FC’s 2009-’10 squad that claimed the Premiership-Championship double.
“I definitely think this squad has what it takes to be champions,” Brosque told reporters on Thursday.
“Getting the minor premiership would be quite big as well because it means you’ve been the best side over 27 rounds.
“There’s only six games to go and if we continue the way that we are I’m confident that this squad can go all the way.
“It’s very special memories winning that title [against Melbourne Victory on the last day of that season]. I’d like to write some new history.”
It was that title-winning season five years ago which also marks the last time the Sky Blues have sat atop the Hyundai A-League ladder outright.
A win over City on Friday night would put Sydney FC in first-place – at least for 48 hours until Wellington’s clash with Brisbane Roar.
“When you look back it’s surprising it’s been that long since we’ve been in the lead,” the 31-year-old attacker said.
“So it’s good motivation for us to keep our run going and hopefully at the end of this weekend be top of the table.”
