Two of Brisbane Roar-s most influential players have made the Foxtel A-League All Stars- final squad to play Serie A champions Juventus at ANZ Stadium on 10 August.
Captain Matt Smith and Johnny Warren Medallist Thomas Broich were revealed as two representatives from the reigning Hyundai A-League champions who will head into the Foxtel A-League All Stars camp on August 1 ahead of the highly anticipated encounter against the Italian giants.
After claiming the Hyundai A-League-s highest individual honour for the second time following a stellar 2013/14 season, Broich was always going to be a popular choice for the fans- online vote.
The popular German set to front up against Juventus after featuring in the inaugural Foxtel A-League All Stars showpiece event against Manchester United last year.
“I really enjoyed the experience last year, going into camp with the other A-League boys and playing against Manchester United, so I-m looking forward to it again,” Broich said.
Smith was again a general in Roar-s defence that conceded less than a goal a game, while he also chimed in at the other end of the field finding the back of the net three times.
“It-s an honour to be selected so big thanks to the fans for voting,” Smith said.
“As a footballer, you want to test yourself against the best and this is definitely an opportunity to do so.”
The Roar duo join a number of star players from across the Hyundai A-League who-ve been named this week in coach Josep Gombau-s Foxtel A-League All Stars squad.
The Foxtel A-League All Stars will meet Juventus at ANZ Stadium in Sydney on 10 August with the match to be broadcast live and exclusive on the Seven Network nationally.
