Broich named Roar’s player of the year

Brisbane midfielder Thomas Broich has been named the club’s player of the year at the Roar’s end of season awards.

It is the second time the German playmaker has taken home the medal, named after Queensland football legend Gary Wilkins, after winning it in his debut season for the Roar in 2011, while Karina Gorry won the club’s Westfield W-League Player of the Year award.

Versatile Ivan Franjic was voted Hyundai A-League Members- Player of the Year, while Besart Berisha won Hyundai A-League Players- Player of Year, as voted by his teammates.

The Albanian striker also took home the club-s Hyundai A-League Golden Boot award for his 14 goals, while James Donachie was rewarded for his consistency throughout his debut season with the club-s new Young Player of the Year award.

Roar have also announced a change in their coaching structure, with W-League coach Jeff Hopkins taking over the Youth team, with former NYL coach John Sime assuming a chief scout role for the club.
