Wellington Phoenix striker Jeremy Brockie is set to join MLS League club Toronto FC on a three-month loan.

Brockie will join up with former All Whites teammate and now Toronto coach Ryan Nelsen before returning to the Phoenix in August.

Phoenix general manager David Dome said the club had been working with Toronto to bring the deal to fruition and was pleased that Brockie is getting the opportunity to taste life in another top league.

“It is a great opportunity for Jeremy as the MLS is of a good standard, and it is possible that Jeremy could come back an even better player than he now is,” Dome said.

“The break between seasons in the A-League is too long and the club has been looking for opportunities for some of the players to play football in other leagues in an effort to get greater benefit from the break.

“Michael Boxhall is currently on loan to the Oakleigh Cannons in the Victorian Premier League as part of this programme”

“Both clubs have also agreed to work closely together on football issues following on from this deal so it-s a great association to have”
