Brisbane Roar’s Westfield W-League 2019/20 Season Draw

After qualifying for the Westfield W-League Finals Seres in style in 2018/19, Brisbane Roar look to go a step further in 2019/10.

Roar will be striving to bounce back from their Semi Final loss to Sydney FC after finishing second last season, but they will be forced to wait after being handed a Round 1 bye.

New coach Jake Goodship will be looking for the leadership of Westfield Matilda Clare Polkinghorne when Roar finally get under way with a Thursday night prime time match against the Premiers, Melbourne Victory, at Lions Stadium in Round 2.

Captain Polkinghorne is among a host of key players from last season, including Katrina Gorry and Mackenzie Arnold, who have committed to the Queenslanders for 2019/20, which bodes well for their chances of closing the four-point gap they trailed Victory by in 2018/19.

Roar host Western Sydney and Adelaide and travel to Canberra and Victory over their next four fixtures, before returning home for Christmas period, playing Newcastle on Sunday, 29 December and Melbourne City on Thursday, 2 January.

Goodship’s side will be desperate to pick up some momentum over the summer as they face three straight road games to close out against Wanderers, Sydney FC and Perth Glory.
