Brisbane Roar v Adelaide United: match preview

It’s very much a fresh start for Brisbane Roar and Adelaide United when the two clubs meet on the Gold Coast on Sunday night.

Both clubs have new men at the helm for the remainder of the campaign in a clash that could have a big say on whether these sides will play finals football in 2019/20.

Roar were one of the form sides of the competition before the season was put on hold and it will be interesting to see how they return to action now coach Robbie Fowler has departed the club.

They begin the resumption in fourth spot and in striking distance of a top-two finish.

Meanwhile, the Reds have Adelaide legend Carl Veart in charge after coach Gertjan Verbeek returned to Europe during the league’s hiatus.

Adelaide’s finals hopes took a dive before the break, losing four straight games and conceding a total of 15 goals in that stretch.

A fifth straight defeat would set a new club record for consecutive losses in the Hyundai A-League.
