Brisbane Roar signing scores eight in 10-0 win!

New Brisbane Roar striker Jamie Maclaren scored an incredible eight goals as Hyundai A-League club romped to a 10-0 friendly win over the Gold Coast All-Stars on Sunday.

In an extraordinary effort by the new signing from Perth Glory, Maclaren scored four times in each half at Southport Soccer Club to emphasise he will be a key weapon for coach John Aloisi’s Roar this season.

The attacker’s golden afternoon started on 11 minutes when he tucked away a penalty after Devante Clut was brought down in the box.

He doubled the lead two minutes later before completing his hat-trick midway through the first half as he slotted home Brandon Borrello’s cross.

It was 4-0 on 23 minutes as he tapped home from close range after good lead-up play by Dmitri Petratos before adding a fifth and sixth goal within 19 minutes of the restart.

Borrello and Abraham Yango were the other players to get their name on the scoresheet but it was fitting that Maclaren had the final say as he smashed home his eighth of the match three minutes from time to complete the rout.

Roar open their Hyundai A-League season away to Western Sydney Wanderers on Thursday, October 8.
