Brisbane Roar have signed American defender Josie Studer from USL Super League outfit Carolina Ascent for the upcoming Ninja A-League 2025-26 season.
After five stellar seasons at Louisiana Tech University, where she scored seven goals and three assists from defence, Studer joined Carolina Ascent on her first professional contract last year.
The 24-year-old made her maiden start for Carolina in October 2024 before going on to make 11 appearances and securing two assists in her time at the club.

“To say I am excited about playing for Brisbane Roar is a massive understatement,” Studer said. “This club has unreal supporters, and I want to make them proud.”
“My intent is simple—play brilliant footy, go to the Grand Final, and bring the trophy home to Brisbane. These players, our staff, and Queensland deserve it.
“They are putting in all the work. I am so unbelievably grateful to be here and I’m ready to play ball.”
Studer is Brisbane’s 12th signing, after Chloe Lincoln, Amali Kinsella, Daisy Brown, Kijah Stephenson, Kiera Meyers, Tahlia Franco, Ashlyn Miller, Kayla Hanson, Bente Jansen, Sharn Freier and Marianna Seidl.
CommBank Matildas star Tameka Yallop has also re-signed.
