Newcastle Jets forward Lauren Allan’s stoppage-time strike sealed a dramatic 3-2 win over Brisbane Roar at Perry Park on Sunday night.
The Jets trailed at 1-0 and 2-1 but fought back in the second half to notch a dramatic victory on the road.
Brisbane Roar legend Tameka Yallop scored a first-half brace to move past Sam Kerr into second on the Ninja A-League’s all-time goalscoring leaderboard with the 70th and 71st goals of her Ninja A-League career in a dramatic first-half.
Yallop’s brace bookended an Emma Dundas stunner for the Jets as Brisbane took a 2-1 lead into half-time, but Newcastle midfielder Deven Jackson’s second-half equaliser set the stage for Allan to seal all three points for the Jets deep into added time.
The 3-2 loss extended Brisbane’s winless run to four games; Alex Smith’s side have won just one of their last eight games with their spot in the top six well and truly at risk after 19 rounds. Fifth-placed Brisbane sit just one point ahead of Canberra United in seventh at the end of the weekend’s action.

But just two minutes after restoring parity, the Jets were stung by a second Yallop goal.
The Roar captain matched the quality shown by Dundas just moments prior with a bullet from the edge of the area rattled emphatically into the top-left corner.
Yallop’s second goal of the game took her Ninja A-League career goal tally to 71 – the second-most of any player in the competition’s history behind Canberra United legend Michelle Heyman.

There was late drama at Perry Park as Claire Adams latched onto Lauren Allan’s cross to convert what the Jets thought was a go-ahead goal at 3-2 – but the offside flag denied the teenager what might’ve been a match-winning goal.
But just when it looked as though the game would end on level terms, Allan popped up with Newcastle’s all-important third goal, struck in the fifth minute of stoppage time.
