Brisbane Roar FC have announced the signing of American forward Abby Smothers ahead of the 2026/27 Ninja A-League Women’s season.
Smothers joins the Roar from Western Michigan University, where she wrapped up her college career as the program’s all-time leading scorer, racking up 75 points and 28 goals from 61 appearances. Her standout senior year saw her named to the All-MAC First Team and earn United Soccer Coaches All-Region honours, on top of Academic All-MAC recognition.

Head Coach Johnathan Clemente was pleased to confirm the signing:
“Abby is an attacking threat, direct, fast & strong with a wand of a left foot, these strengths will transition into the A-League very well and I’m excited to work with her.”
