Fiorentina’s new Australian signing Josh Brillante says he can’t wait to get started with his new Serie A club – and he could even be playing against Real Madrid next month.
The versatile 21-year-old from Newcastle Jets in the Hyundai A-League has passed a medical and inked his deal in Florence.
And the fringe Socceroo could be facing Real Madrid next month with the Italian club confirming a friendly with the La Liga powerhouse and reigning UCL champions on August 16 at Warsaw’s Stadion Norodowy.

Brillante was part of Ange Postecoglou’s initial 30-man squad for the World Cup and although he did not travel to the finals, he has impressed the powers that be at the Artemio Franchi.
Brillante, who made 46 appearances for Newcastle in the past two seasons, becomes the second young Aussie to make a close-season switch to Europe after former teammate Adam Taggart joined Fulham.
