After the first two rounds of the Hyundai A-League 2013/14 season, Brisbane Roar is the only team with a 100 per cent record following wins over Wellington Phoenix and Sydney FC.
However, perhaps the more important statistic is the Roar-s goal tally – six goals in the two matches with six different goal scorers.
With the club sweating on the fitness of the Hyundai A-League-s 2012 Golden Boot winner Besart Berisha, midfielder Luke Brattan said he was confident his side would be able to cope with any absences throughout the season.
“We showed in pre-season that we have a lot of depth, the young boys came in and scored in pre-season,” Brattan said.
“No matter who scores, everyone is happy.
“If we get the right people in the right areas, we should be right – just don-t put me up front!”
Berisha came off after 25 minutes against the Sky Blues on Saturday night and will miss the Harvey Norman Friday Night Football match against Melbourne Victory this weekend.
While Brattan admitted it was a blow to the Roar side, he wasn-t worried about the attacking threat his team would pose.
“We look to him when we-re not playing the best, he-s a leader and it-s a big loss,” he said.
“As we showed on the weekend, anyone who comes in can do the job – Henrique came in and did well up front.
“We-ve got good depth.”
Brisbane Roar travel south to face the Victory in former coach Ange Postecoglou-s final match in charge of the Melbourne club. Kick off at Etihad Stadium is at 7.30pm local time, 6.30pm Brisbane time.
An update on Besart Berisha’s recovery injury will be made available as soon as possible.
Nico Olejniczak supports Brisbane Roar by “ANYTHING I THINK MIGHT WORK. SING, PRAISE, HAVE A DRINK.”
