Midfielder Oliver Bozanic has wasted no time making an impression for the Central Coast Mariners.
Central Coast is unbeaten in two matches and a key factor in the team’s impressive start to the campaign has been the form of Bozanic.
His performance at left midfield in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Adelaide at Bluetongue Stadium was outstanding.
He hopes he can make a similar impact when the Mariners travel to New Zealand to take on Wellington in round three on Sunday.
Bozanic showed no fear taking on defenders against Adelaide and his crossing was also a feature, especially in the second half when the Mariners dominated.
His performance delighted Mariners coach Graham Arnold.
After stints with several English clubs, Bozanic is delighted to be back with his home town club.
“So far it’s been great, I’ve enjoyed it and the team is doing well,” he said.
“It’s been a good start but it’s all about consistency. We haven’t had that long together as a squad and there’s been a lot of changes to the roster, but we’re starting to gel.”
“I hope I continue to get picked and the team keeps performing.”
A highlight for the Mariners against Adelaide was the combination play between Bozanic and left-back Joshua Rose.
It was the pair’s first A-League match together and the partnership looks like developing into something special for the Mariners.
“It will be nice for me and Josh to build on Sunday,” Bozanic said.
