Bouzanis seals move to Eredivisie club

Dean Bouzanis has completed his move to Dutch club PEC Zwolle, on loan from Hyundai A-League club Melbourne City.

City revealed on Friday Bouzanis was on his way to Europe to link up with a European club, landing at the Eredivisie outfit.

The 27-year-old was on the bench for Zwolle’s 1-0 away win over Groningen on Monday morning (AEST), the club’s first win of the new campaign in four matches.

Bouzanis has been brought in at Zwolle as cover for the injured Diederik Boer.

Although it’s understood there is a clause in the current deal which gives them the option to buy the shot-stopper outright should he impress this season.

There is a real City flavour at Zwolle, with former boss John van ‘t Schip the coach there, while young playmaker Denis Genreau is also on loan at the club from City.

Former City assistant Michael Valkanis is also currently on van ‘t Schip’s coaching staff at Zwolle.

Bouzanis left City after making 46  first team appearances for the club since joining City from Western Sydney Wanderers midway through the 2015/16 Season.

He was City’s number one for most of last season making 21 appearances in the Hyundai A-League, keeping seven clean sheets and conceding just 26 goals.

While City still have experienced gloveman Eugene Galekovic on the book, they have also been linked with former Newcastle Jets keeper Mark Birighitti.
