Brisbane Roar are one game away from the AFC Champions League Group Stage after recording a thumping 6-0 win over Global FC in a Playoff Round clash on Tuesday night.
Four goals from youngster Brandon Borrello and a brace to Spaniard Manuel Arana helped John Aloisi’s side to a comfortable win over their opponents from the Philippines.
Brisbane stormed out of the blocks and took a deserved lead with Borrello firing the hosts in front with a deflected effort after just 12 minutes.
And the floodgates opened midway through the first half with Borrello netting twice in five minutes to complete a hat-trick inside the half-hour mark.
The hosts continued to dominate proceedings and extended their advantage seven minutes before the break with Spanish winger Manuel Arana netting his first goal for the club.
The Roar onslaught continued in the second stanza and their persistence was rewarded with Arana netting his second of the night with 25 minutes remaining.
Borrello capped off the result with his fourth of the night in the final 10 minutes as Brisbane booked a trip to China to tackle the might of Shanghai Shenhua next week for a spot in the ACL Group Stage.
