Borrello the hero as Roar end Glory’s unbeaten start

Brisbane Roar have recorded their second consecutive victory after an entertaining 2-1 win over Perth Glory at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

In their most impressive half of the season, the Roar flew out of the blocks and took the lead on the half-hour mark with Jamie Maclaren netting his first goal of the campaign.

But after Roar wasted a series of clear-cut chances to extend their advantage in the first period, Glory punished the hosts with Nebojsa Marinkovic equalising early in the second half.

A thrilling contest ensued as the second half progressed with both teams looking threatening as they searched for a winner.

And it was the hosts who grabbed what proved to be decisive goal with substitute Brandon Borrello  finding the net with just over 15 minutes remaining.

GOALS

Fullback Corey Brown delivered a superb early cross from the left flank with Maclaren reacting the quickest before burying the ball past Liam Reddy.

A neat interchange between Diego Castro and Rhys Williams teed-up Marinkovic on the edge of the area with the Serbian curling in a fizzing effort past the helpless Michael Theo.

A delicate ball over the top from Jamie Maclaren released Borrello with the youngster showing great acceleration before calmly slotting into the bottom corner.
