Tickets for the Hyundai A-League Round 1 blockbuster between Brisbane Roar and Gold Coast United at Suncorp Stadium go on sale on Tuesday morning and are expected to be hot property for football fans in Queensland’s south-east.
The August 8 match promises to be an occasion to remember as league newcomers Gold Coast play their first competitive match against the Roar in what already looks like a spicy local rivalry.
Fans will be able to buy tickets from 9.00am on Tuesday, July 28 through Ticketek, either online or in person at any of the Ticketek agencies.
Both teams have been training hard in preparation for the start of the season, with the Roar going down 1-0 to North Queensland Fury in a friendly at Townsville yesterday.
In difficult conditions, a late own goal from skipper Craig Moore was enough to sink the Roar, who were without a large number of first-team players.
The Roar will play their final pre-season fixture this Wednesday when the Roar Roadshow heads to Rochedale Rovers.
Kick-off for the match is 7.15pm, with the Roar Roadshow – complete with the Rapid Fire fields – will be at Underwood Park from 4.30pm.
Fans who can-t make the Rochedale game will have a final chance to wish the players luck at Sunday-s Family Fun Day at the Roma Street Parkland.
Activities – including the inflatable Roar Rapid Fire Field and free rides – get under way at 10.30am, there will also 1000 free Roar EKKA-styled showbags for those in early.
With limited parking available, fans are encouraged to travel to the Parkland via TransLink services.
