Besart Berisha was jubilant after Melbourne Victory rediscovered their mojo to smash Hyundai A-League leaders Brisbane 4-0 on Friday night, saying the attitude in the team needed to change, and it changed against Roar.
A stunning three-goal first half to Victory laid the platform for an emphatic win at AAMI Park in front of a noisy 23,207 fans who made a touching tribute to a Victory fan who passed away this week.
Berisha said getting the team’s attitude right was key to the performance and win.
“Especially against Central Coast [last week], the attitude we all had a problem with that. We were honest with each other and look at that, today we played amazing,” he told SBS TV.
Fahid Ben Khalfallah and Kosta Barbarouses (twice) were on target in the first 30 minutes to blow away Roar who coughed up possession in key areas to gift a rampant Victory three goals.
Besart Berisha guided home the fourth early in the second half to confirm an emphatic victory for Victory who’ve had a tough time results wise over the last five weeks.
“We wait so long for this performance, it’s been a while we really perform for 90 minutes,” added an ecstatic Berisha.
“Today all the boys were unbelievable. Even the young players who came in, did a great job.
“We play an unbelievable side and we play amazing. 4-0 very deserved and credit to the boys.
“I really hope for this club we can continue this.”
