Beijing Guoan coach Lee Jang-soo is urging his players to get the basics right ahead of its opening AFC Champions League clash with Newcastle Jets on Tuesday.

Lee Jang-soo, a veteran of continental club cup campaigns, said he is not too worried about the fact he knows little about his opposition and his team needs to focus on its own game.

“We are not focusing too much on the opposition at the moment, we are looking at ourselves,” he told reporters. “Our main aim is to do our job and perform to the best of our ability.”

“It is important for players to work together as a team. This ethic is crucial to Guoan’s style of play.”

Guoan finished third in the Chinese Super League last season and having missed out on qualification for the knockout stage when second in the group stage of the tournament last year, will be determined for a better showing.

Beijing’s line-up is likely to feature two Australians, Joel and Ryan Griffiths, while Adam Griffiths, Joel’s twin brother, will line-up for the Jets.
