Bautheac sees Roar improvement as fitness increases

French star Eric Bautheac says once Brisbane Roar have all their players fit, John Aloisi’s side will start moving up the ladder.

Speaking to Fox Sports after Sunday’s 0-0 draw with Mariners at Suncorp, the classy French winger expressed his frustration that after five rounds, the Roar are yet to register three points.

Bautheac, 30, was one of the best players for Roar but he was still disappointed in the draw.

“Yes, but I don’t win,” the former Lille, Nice and Dijon said after being given the man of the match award from NAB.

“We have to win, it’s been five games now. Obviously it’s hard but we just need to win.”

Bautheac looked dangerous going forward but in goals, Jamie Young was outstanding for Brisbane.

Deputising for the injured Michael Theo, Young pulled off a number of big saves for a Roar side that dominated the game for periods.

“We could’ve lost if not for Youngy who made three or four saves,” he said.

“It’s very hot here but some people [players] aren’t fit and coming back from injuries, even myself. You can see in the games we’re getting fitter and better…”
