Barbarouses joins Greek giants

Former Brisbane Roar midfielder and New Zealand international Kostas Barbarouses has joined Panathinaikos.

New Zealand international Kostas Barbarouses has been loaned out to Greek Super League club Panathinaikos for next season from Russian side Alania Vladikavkaz, the Athens team has announced.

The 22-year-old attacking midfielder, who has played five times for his country, scoring once, is a member of the New Zealand team for the London Olympics.

On a club level Barbarouses turned out 13 times for Alania Vladikavkaz last season, scoring two goals.

Barbarouses spent four seasons in the Hyundai A-League in total playing for both Wellington Phoenix and Brisbane Roar.

He has also had spells with Brisbane Roar (2010-2011), Macarthur Rams (2008) on loan, Wellington Phoenix (2007-2010) and Wellington Olympic (2006-2007).
