Irish forward Jay O’Shea hit four as Brisbane Roar ran riot in an 11-goal frenzy against a Gladstone Select XI.
Fellow Irishman Roy O’Donovan netted a double and Australian attacker Brad Inman scored his first goal in orange following a week-long camp in the Gladstone region.

O’Donovan fired the warning signs in the first minute, putting the Roar one ahead, before Inman and English defender Macauley Gillesphey made it 3-0 after 16 minutes at Marley Brown Oval.
An effort from George Mells and two goals from O’Shea made it 6-0 at half-time and O’Donovan doubled his tally just after the hour mark.
A third from O’Shea, followed by Stefan Mauk’s strike, racked up nine and late goals from O’Shea and youngster Dauntae Mariner capped the 11-0 win for Robbie Fowler’s men.
Petratos magic wins Jets’ first pre-season hit out
Dimitri Petratos scored directly from a corner as Newcastle Jets kicked off their 2019/20 pre-season campaign with a 1-0 win against Edgeworth FC.
The Jets talisman struck on 27 minutes, with no player claiming to get a touch, at Jack McLaughlan Oval.

Former Central Coast Mariner Matt Millar and ex-Western Sydney Wanderer Nick Fitzgerald made their first appearances for the Hunter men.
Steve Ugarkovic shot into the side-netting and Kaine Sheppard missed the target as Newcastle threatened early on, before Petratos’ set-piece made the break through.
Young goalkeeper Noah James made a double save, with help from the woodwork, to deny Eagles attacker Oliver Smith as Ernie Merrick’s men took a lead into the interval.
Ugarkovic rattled the crossbar in the second half but Petratos’ strike proved the be the decisive moment against the NPL Northern NSW side.

Flying full-back Liberato Cacace claimed the gong for Young Men’s Player of the Year following a breakout season in the Hyundai A-League 2018/19 for the 18-year-old.
Twenty-year-old striker Callum McCowatt was awarded Domestic Young Player of the Year for his performances for Eastern Suburbs before signing for the Hyundai A-League club.
Premier League striker Chris Wood of Burnley FC took out the overall Player of the Year award at the ceremony in Auckland on Saturday night.
