Former Wellington Phoenix star Roy Krishna has found a new home and will play in the Indian Super League next season.
Krishna, who took out the Johnny Warren Medal as the Hyundai A-League’s best player in 2018/19, has inked a one-year deal with Kolkata-based club ATK.
“It was not just about me, it was about my family. My wife, [Naziah Ali], is coming with me. She’s more familiar with the Indian culture and that was also one of the reasons why I chose to go there,” Krishna said in stuff.co.nz.
“Obviously my forefathers came from there 140 years ago so I’m going back after 140 years. I’m excited, I’m happy and I know I’ve made the right decision.”
Krishna’s deal is reportedly one of the most lucrative in ATK’s history.
