In an event that is sure to keep her supremely fit during the Westfield W-League off-season, Rigby will embark on her first marathon as part of the Chevron City to Surf event.
“I am choosing to run this marathon in celebration of NAIDOC Week and to raise money for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation,” Rigby told Glory’s official website.
“This foundation holds such a special place in my heart. The aim of the foundation is to close the literacy gap in remote indigenous communities by providing resources such as books and programs to those in need.
“My Dad was a children’s book author and so the power of words had a profound effect on me as a child and still does to this day.
“I believe it is not only essential in learning, growing and daily life, but it promotes imagination, storytelling and allows us to create and articulate a world of our own.
“It also allows us to tell our story. It is incredibly important that we provide these remote Indigenous communities with the tools to not only survive, but to revel in the joy of reading and write their own stories to pass down through the generations.”

Wagga City Council resolved at its Ordinary Meeting on Monday, July 8 that they had entered into an agreement with Sydney FC to play pre-season games in the town.
It’s understood a Westfield W-League clash will be played there this year, with the Hyundai A-League side to head there in 2020.
