Another day, another award for Sam Kerr!

Sam Kerr is running out of room for her growing list of honours after being named the Best International Athlete, Women’s Soccer for the third time at the ESPYS.

Chelsea superstar and Matildas captain Kerr has taken the footballing world by storm in 2021-22, soaring to new heights after guiding Chelsea to another Women’s Super League title.

Kerr’s trophy-winning exploits and back-to-back Golden Boots saw her become the first Australian ever to win the English PFA Players’ Player of the Year among other accolades.

The A-Leagues legend Kerr also took home the FWA’s Footballer of the Year and WSL Player of the Season, while she became the first Aussie woman to claim an award after Harry Kewell’s 2000 PFA Young Player of the Year honour.

Now Kerr, who received the keys to Perth, beat Ballon d’Or winner Alexia Putellas, Caroline Graham Hansen and Vivianne Miedema to the ESPYS gong.

Kerr also took out the award in 2018 and 2019.

It comes after Kerr became the first female footballer to feature on the cover of a global version of FIFA.

Former Perth Glory and Sydney FC star Kerr is pictured alongside Paris Saint-Germain sensation Kylian Mbappe on the cover of the FIFA 23 Ultimate Edition.
