Ange Postecoglou oversaw a 10th consecutive Premier League match without defeat but the Tottenham boss may have saved his best work for after the game.
Tottenham extended their lead atop the table to five points courtesy of a 2-1 win away to Crystal Palace on Saturday (AEDT) as Postecoglou made more history.
The A-Leagues and Australian legend now has 26 points from his first 10 matches in the Premier League – the most of any manager in the history of the competition, while he also became just the second Tottenham boss to go unbeaten through his first six away league games in charge after Arthur Rowe went 12 without losing in 1949.

Postecoglou has taken the Premier League by storm, with his attacking style of football and personality endearing himself to not only Spurs fans but pundits and supporters cross the country.
And he was at it again in the aftermath of Tottenham’s latest win at Selhurst Park, with Manchester United legend Gary Neville hilariously in the firing line.
Neville had previously suggested Postecoglou was “copying” Pep Guardiola’s tactics by using inverted full-backs and while he had previously joked about the jibe, he did so again.
Appearing on Sky Sports, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher teed up Postecoglou by saying: “At the moment, you’re just copying Pep [Guardiola], aren’t ya? [laughs].”
Postecoglou replied: “Yeah, I just study one game a week and see what he’s [Guardiola] doing and go from there. And you know what? There’s nothing wrong with that, you know?”
Carragher added: “He’s done alright to be fair,” before Neville said: “Even I tried to copy him.”
Neville was alluding to his brief tenure as manager of Valencia, where he was sacked after 28 games in 2016.
The Englishman and Carragher were left in stiches as Postecoglou responded: “How did that go?”.
As the interview was coming to an end and Postecoglou was saying his goodbyes, he provided another comedic gag.
“Just go and watch Man City instead,” the former Socceroos boss said as he slipped away in an iconic mic drop moment.
