Adam Hughes scored a spectacular double and Andrezinho fired in a free-kick as Perth Glory beat AmaZulu 3-1, in the second game of their Tour of South Africa.
Hughes hit two thunderbolts from outside the area while Andrezinho showed his Brazilian class with a curling set piece.
“I am very happy to score on my debut,” Andrezinho said.
“I hope i can score many more goals for my new club.”
Perth Glory coach Ian Ferguson said he was pleased with the game.
“It was an encouraging performance but we still have a lot of work to do.
“It was good to rotate the squad and get game time into players who didn’t start the first game,” Ferguson said.
In total, the coach made 7 changes with Neil Young, Josh Risdon, Steven Old (on trial), Todd Howarth, Steven McGarry, Tommy Amphlett and Jesse Makarounas all starting.
In front of a passionate and vocal crowd at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi, Hughes put Perth Glory in front just before half time when he unleashed a drive from 35 meters.
Hughes was again on target in the second half, when he latched onto a loose ball on the edge of the area. With sheer class, the midfielder rifled the ball into the roof of the net with the outside of his right boot.
Perth Glory’s third came from Andrezinho but it could’ve come from the penalty spot after Jacob Burns was clearly fouled inside the area.
But after pointing in the direction of the penalty spot, the referee said the foul happened just outside the area.
In his first game for the club, Andrezinho stepped up, and with his left foot curled the ball into the near post.
In a lively 30 minute spell, the Brazilian showed his blistering pace and smart movement.
AmaZulu pulled a goal back with a few minutes to play with a powerful free kick from 25 meters to make it 3-1.
