Brisbane Roar boss John Aloisi says the club will bring in a medical expert to try and get to the bottom of the Hyundai A-League club’s horror injury toll.
Ahead of Sunday’s clash with Melbourne Victory at Suncorp Stadium, Roar will be without Eric Bautheac (hamstring), Jade North (groin), Brett Holman (calf), Luke DeVere (knee), Joe Caletti (ankle), Michael Theo (finger) and Shannon Brady (foot) due to injuries.
Eager to know what’s contributing to their injury woes, Aloisi will seek expert advice to get some answers.
“It’s something that we have to look into,” the Roar boss said.
“We’re going to get someone to come in and look at our infrastructure and see what’s going on, because the amount of injuries is getting a little bit ridiculous.
“We’ll look at the positive that we have players coming back. [Fahid] Ben Khalfallah is back, Thomas Kristensen is back.
“Brisbane roar is a team that has always shown fight when we need too. Having a lot against us, we’ll come put fighting and make sure we get the win that we want against Victory.
“When you’ve got so many [injuries], and it’s something that we have to look at ourselves first, and see what we’re doing right or wrong,” he added.
“From the first year I was here, where we training somewhere different (Griffith University’s Mount Gravatt campus), the loading s very similar, so it’s definitely not the loading.”
Even with a huge injury toll, Roar can’t feel sorry for themselves and need a win against Victory to consolidate a spot in the top six.
Roar started the weekend in sixth position on 10 points, level with Victory but higher on the ladder on goal difference.
“They haven’t had a great start like us but they have great players,” Aloisi said of Victory.
“They are dangerous going forward and we know it’s going to be a hard game but an entertaining game.
“It’ always a good crowd. We know our supporters will be behind us especially knowing what we’re going through at the moment and they’ll be right behind us.”
