Sydney FC striker John Aloisi will make his first appearance for the pre-season in his side’s trial match against the Sydney Tigers in Leichhardt on Wednesday night.
Aloisi has sat out Sydney’s opening two pre-season matches, but rookie coach Vitezslav Lavicka said on Tuesday that his marquee striker was ready to return to the side.
“John Aloisi will play part of the game, short part of the game first time,” he said.
“So far (during the trials) we have been able to pick up good information. I think it’s very important for our season.”
While Aloisi will be in action against the Sydney Tigers, fellow veteran Steve Corica still hasn’t recovered from off-season knee surgery and will be rested for at least another week.
“He (Corica) is practicing with the team and will play later,” Lavicka said.
“They (Corica and Aloisi) are both very important players for our squad, for our way to be successful this year.”
Lavicka is still finalising his squad for the 2009-10 Hyundai A-League season, with one spot still needing to be filled.
Englishman James Vaughan and Uruguayan Gustavo Latronico will both be in action against the Sydney Tigers with the duo to be given every opportunity to impress Lavicka.
