Aloisi backs young defender for Hyundai A-League opportunities

Brisbane Roar boss John Aloisi believes Aaron Reardon is ready to play a part in the upcoming Hyundai A-League campaign after the young defender signed his first professional contract.

The promising 19-year-old has emerged from the club’s academy to ink a multi-year deal with the three-time Grand Final winners.

Reardon is now tipped to challenge for a first-team spot amid strong competition from Daniel Bowles, Luke DeVere, Jacob Pepper and Avram Papadopoulos.

“He is a young talented footballer who has worked extremely hard over the years and deserves this opportunity,” Aloisi told brisbaneroar.com.au.

“We are confident Aaron has the ability to play a significant role this season.

“It is pleasing to see a young Queensland born and bred footballer develop in our academy ranks and make the transition into our senior squad.

“I’m sure his story will inspire other young local footballers to one day become future Brisbane Roar stars.”

Reardon

Reardon, who is part of the Young Socceroos setup, expressed gratitude as he seeks to secure senior minutes.

“After being part of BRFC family for many years, signing my first professional contract is a dream come true,” the left-footer said.

“I’m incredibly thankful to be given this opportunity and can’t wait to play in front of our fans this season at Suncorp Stadium.

“It’s an honour to be part of this talented group of players and I’m looking forward to improving my game under John, Ross [Aloisi] and Darren [Davies].”
