Danny Allsopp has made an immediate impact in his marquee appearance for Victory League club Launceston City, helping the side to its first win in 25 matches.

The former Melbourne Victory Hyundai A-League star was brought in for a one-off appearance for the club and scored a hat-trick in their drought-breaking 4-2 win over Tilford Zebras on Saturday.

It was the club’s first win in 25 matches in the league and is being regarded as one of the biggest upsets the competition has seen.

Allsopp’s masterclass at Mitsubishi Park started after just 11 minutes when his fierce drive was deflected in off Zebras defender Andy Clark.

The ex-Manchester City and Socceroos frontman then tapped in at the back post seven minutes later to double Launceston’s lead.

The visitors pulled one back before the break before Allsopp completed his treble midway through the second half.

Toby Omenihu made it 4-1 20 minutes from time before a late Alex Leszczynski penalty was a mere consolation for the Zebras.
