Western Sydney Wanderers’ Liberty A-League coach Robbie Hooker has signed a two-year contract extension, after an impressive start to his tenure.

Hooker arrived at the club on the eve of the season, after taking over from former coach Kat Smith in early October.

Since then, the Wanderers have enjoyed a solid start to the campaign, sitting two points outside the top six with two games in hand heading into their clash with league leaders Melbourne City on Sunday.

Hooker has also oversaw the development of youngsters Sophie Harding, Cushla Rue, Holly Caspers and Alexia Apostolakis who are among the players enjoying a breakout campaign.

Hooker’s extension will see him at the club until the end of the 2025-26 season.

“My start at the club was definitely a rollercoaster ride, but I wouldn’t change a thing,” Hooker said.

“I am delighted with the way our Wander Women have responded and absorbed the information my team has given them and we have started to build a strong foundation for seasons to come.

“I would like to thank the club and the board for their ongoing support and I’m excited for the next two seasons with the Western Sydney Wanderers.”

Western Sydney Wanderers Chairman Paul Lederer added: “We are delighted with the progress that Robbie and his team have made with our Liberty A-League squad this season.

“Robbie has ensured that our Wander Women are competitive and follow our club values and expectations.

“The next two seasons will give Robbie the opportunity to continue to build this team into the future and we are excited to see what’s in store for our next generation of Wander Women.”

Wanderers CEO Scott Hudson praised the positive impact Hooker has had in his short period in the role.

“Since arriving in Western Sydney, Robbie has made an instant impact and ensured that our Wander Women are a competitive side week-in and week-out,” said Hudson.

“Robbie’s journey at Wanderland has started positively and the extension ensures that we have stability in our Women’s football programs for the next two years.

“We have big ambitions for our Liberty A-League Women’s team and we believe that Robbie will help us achieve them.”
