She may have ended up on the losing side but Wellington Phoenix goalkeeper Brianna Edwards produced one of the saves of the season during their 3-2 loss to Newcastle.
Fresh from her penalty-saving heroics for Wellington in their 2-0 win over Canberra United the 21-year-old was at it again, this time thwarting the in-form Sarina Bolden from point-blank range.
Coming into the side in place of the suspended Rylee Foster, Edwards pulled off a string of top saves but her flying stop to deny Bolden is as good a display of goalkeeping you’ll see all season.
Lauren Allan’s pinpoint delivery from the right was met by a towering header from Bolden who, expecting the net to ripple, saw the flying figure of Edwards swat away her effort with incredible skill.
