Central Coast Mariners have confirmed captain Taren King is set for an extended stint on the sidelines after suffering an ACL injury.
King has captained the Mariners through the club’s return season in the Liberty A-League; the defender scored her side’s first goal of the season after the club re-entered the competition and has been an integral member of head coach Emily Husband’s side.
The severity of King’s ACL injury is not yet clear, with the 27-year-old awaiting scans to clarify the nature of the injury and the road ahead to recovery.
The club threw its support behind King in a club statement.
“Everyone at the Central Coast Mariners wishes Taren the very best in her recovery and will be with her every step of the way on her journey back to the pitch,” the statement read. “We look forward to seeing our captain back out on the field soon.”
