Brisbane Roar have re-signed American defender Josie Studer for the 2026/27 Ninja A-League season.
Studer joined the Roar from USL Super League club Carolina Ascent ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, following five years at Louisiana Tech University.
The fullback quickly established herself as a regular in Brisbane’s backline, making an impact defensively while also providing an attacking outlet from wide areas.

Studer said she was excited to return for a second season in Brisbane.
“I am so excited to be back for another season with Brisbane Roar!, she said.
“This club means so much to me. Fighting for the Roar faithful was an absolute honour.
We made massive strides towards our goal last season, and will no doubt be leaving it all out there to bring it home this year.”
Roar head coach Johnathan Clemente said Studer would be an important part of his defensive plans for the new season.
“Josie proved to be an excellent addition to the league last season, athletically dominate with a real hunger to defend, she will be an important player for us defensively.”
With Studer now locked in for the upcoming 2026/27 Ninja A-League campaign, Brisbane Roar’s recent re-signing spree has seen them tie down four players in the last five days.
Young Queensland talent Grace Kuilamu was first to put pen-to-paper on new terms whist midfielder Zara Kruger soon followed suit.
Meanwhile Matildas star Sharn Freier will also be staying in Brisbane after signing on for the 2026/26 season after departing German side VFL Wolfsburg.
The club are expected to be active in the market over the next couple of weeks though following a series of big-name departures during the off-season.
Chief among those exits was Matidlas great and club legend Tameka Yallop, who has joined runners-up Wellington Phoenix on an initial one-year deal whilst Dutch ace Bente Jansen, Ava Piazza, Kyla Hanson, Kiera Meyers, Aimee Medwin, Alicia Woods, Marianna Seidl and Ashlyn Miller have all also left the club.
The Roar kick off their 2026/27 Ninja A-League campaign with a home clash against Central Coast Mariners at Spencer Park on Saturday, October 17.
