Central Coast Mariners teenage Haine Eames has been earmarked as one of the best young talents in world football.
After enjoying a breakout season in Gosford, the 17-year-old sensation has now been named in the Guardian’s ‘Next Generation 2025’ – an annual list highlighting 60 of the best young talents currently playing professional football around the world.

With this year’s list highlighting the cream of the crop to have been born in 2008, Eames features alongside young stars from across the globe playing for European giants such as Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, and Ajax, as well as South American powerhouse Boca Juniors.
Eames follows in the footsteps of CommBank Young Socceroos and Manchester United defender James Overy (2024) and Socceroos duo Alessandro Circati (2023) and Nestory Irankunda, who have all previously been named by The Guardian.

And fans will be able to catch him in action when the Mariners host F3 rivals Newcastle Jets in a blockbuster derby at polytec Stadium on Sunday.
Eames was thrown into the deep end during the Isuzu UTE A-League 2024-25 season, playing 20 times for the club having been trust to perform by former Mariners boss Mark Jackson.

Contributing two goals and two assists throughout the course of the campaign, Eames also played a prominent role for the club as they juggled domestic commitments with their participation in the AFC Champions League Elite, where he went toe-to-toe with some of Asian football’s biggest club sides.

Furthermore, Eames also broke records galore last season for the club after becoming their youngest ever player AND goalscorer, as well as also becoming the Mariners’ youngest ever captain after taking over the armband during their ACL Elite clash with Japanese side Kawasaki Frontale.
It’s no surprise then Eames is reportedly attracting interest from clubs right across Europe, including the Premier League and clubs in Major League Soccer (MLS).
With all that experience under his belt, Eames is now set to play a prominent role in the heart of the Mariners midfield for season 2025-26.
