Macarthur reach agreement with overseas club for transfer of experienced defender

Jake Brimmer and Nishan Velupillay have lived and breathed Melbourne Victory from their earliest memories. This week's A-Leagues All Access dives into their journey from the terraces to the pitch as they prepare for a sold out Melbourne Derby.

Macarthur FC have confirmed they had agreed a transfer with an Asian club for Jonathan Aspropotamitis, pending a medical evaluation.

The Bulls confirmed the news on social media on Thursday night, thanking him for his contribution to the club.

“We would sincerely like to thank Jonathan for his contribution to the Bulls, on and off the field,” Macarthur said on social media.

Aspropotamitis joined the club in 2022 after stints at a myriad of A-Leagues outfits, playing for the likes of Western Sydney Wanderers, Central Coast Mariners, Western United and Perth Glory prior to joining the Bulls.

The 27-year-old centre-back went on to make 40 appearances for the Bulls, including 13 appearances in all competitions this season. He also started in their Australia Cup final victory over Sydney United 58 last year.

Macarthur confirmed on social media that they would be targeting reinforcements in the upcoming January transfer window.
