Newcastle Jets defender Daniel Wilmering will remain with the club until the end of the Isuzu UTE A-League 2025-26 season after penning a new two-year contract.

Wilmering joined the Jets ahead of the 2023-24 campaign and the 24-year-old full-back has gone on to play 53 games for the club.

“Ever since I joined Newcastle, I’ve loved the city and loved playing in front of the fans,” said Wilmering after confirmation of his new contract.

“We are building something exciting here and I can’t wait to run out in front of a packed stadium.

“I know the club has big ambitions this year and I can’t wait to be a part of it. I’m looking forward to the future.”

He added: “After speaking with Mark Milligan, I’m excited to hit the ground running again and I’m determined to have a stronger season with the team.”

Wilmering’s re-signing is the latest piece of business conducted by the Jets following on from the confirmation of a new one-year contract for Japanese star Kota Mizunuma.

“Daniel has shown a great deal of growth over recent seasons,” said new head coach Miligan.

“He has the potential to continue growing and become a threat in many different areas of the game.

He added: “We are excited that Daniel has agreed to continue with the Jets. Daniel displays all the characteristics of the type of player we need to implement a culture and style of play that is exciting to watch.

“He will continue to thrive in our environment.”
