Brisbane Roar confirm seven player exits as revamp continues under Zadkovich

Brisbane Roar have confirmed the release of five first team players following the expiration of their contracts while an additional two players will leave the club following mutual terminations of their deals.

After two seasons in Queensland, Carlo Armiento is now on the look out for a new club following the expiration of his contract, while fellow forward Nikola Mileusnic also departs after a season in which he registered five goals and five assists from 27 matches.

Joining them in departing is 25-year-old attacker Jonas Markovski, who found the back of the net three times in 17 matches during his one season with the club, while academy product James Nikolovski and 21-year-old forward Ayom Majok are also leaving the Roar.

The club has also confirmed 19-year-old Shae Cahill, son of Socceroos great Tim, and midfielder Tara Gomulka won’t be featuring for Ruben Zadkovich’s side during the 2024-25 Isuzu UTE A-League season after the duo agreed to mutual terminations of their contracts.

The latest round of departures comes fresh off the back of confirmation that club captain Tom Aldred would be leaving Brisbane to continue his footballing journey elsewhere.

Aldred has left an indelible mark on the Queensland club after wearing the armband for the last five seasons but while plenty of players may be heading out the door, Zadkovich and co have also been steadily recruiting so far this off-season.

The capture of Olyroos defender Hosine Bility earlier this week on a season-long loan deal will significantly strengthen the Roar defence in the absence of Aldred while Brisbane have also locked down the signings of three more defenders.

With 23-year-old versatile defender Kai Trewin bound for Melbourne City, Brisbane pounced quickly to snap up defensive duo Ben Warland and Harry Van Der Saag following their release from Adelaide United while the club has also signed LA Galaxy and United States youth international Marcus Ferkranus on a two-year deal.
