Stott & Heyman named A-League All Stars Women captains: Details

Melbourne City legend Rebekah Stott has been confirmed as captain of the A-League All Stars Women, set to take on Women’s Super League (WSL) powerhouse Arsenal at Marvel Stadium on Friday night.

Football Ferns defender Stott is joined in the All Stars’ leadership group by Matildas and Canberra United striker Michelle Heyman, who has been named vice-captain for the friendly clash in Melbourne, kicking off at 8.05pm AEST after the A-League All Stars Men face Premier League side Newcastle United in the early kick-off (5.05pm AEST).

Friday’s clash with Arsenal is a special reunion for Stott who reunites with Gunners star and close friend Steph Catley, with whom she used to share Melbourne City’s all-time Liberty A-League appearance record with.

For All Stars vice-captain Heyman, the Marvel Stadium friendly is a chance to go up against fellow Matildas Catley, Kyra Cooney-Cross and Caitlin Foord.

The trio of former A-Leagues stars are back in town to take on an All Stars squad brimming with international talent, led by Stott and Heyman and featuring the likes of Tameka Yallop, Lydia Williams, Cortnee Vine, Alex Chidiac, Kyah Simon, Hannah Wilkinson and more.
