Adelaide United have officially confirmed the departures of Daniel Adlung, Ersan Gulum, Jordan O’Doherty, Mark Ochieng and Dzengis Cavusevic.
Adlung, a key cog in the club’s run to the Hyundai A-League Finals Series and FFA Cup Final, expressed his and his family’s desire to return home to their native Germany as the reason to seek an early exit from his contract.
The midfielder notched up 28 appearances for the Reds in all competitions and scored six goals, including several spectacular long-range drives.

Gulum, meanwhile, has completed a season-long loan from Heibei China Fortune following 22 appearances in the heart of defence.
O’Doherty, 20, and Ochieng, 21, leave after two and three seasons at senior level respectively.
Cavusevic, who joined in February, finishes a short-term stay which featured just four appearances and one goal, with his season prematurely cut short by a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in April.
SQUAD CHECK: Every Hyundai A-League in, out, squad
Adelaide United General Manager of Football, Ante Kovacevic, thanked the players for their contributions to the club and its history, reassuring Reds supporters that squad recruitment was well underway.
“Firstly, on behalf of everyone at the club, thank you to Daniel, Ersan, Jordan, Mark, and Dzengis for their dedicated work during their times with Adelaide United,” Kovacevic said.
“But, in particular, Jordan and Mark, who have been quality professionals whilst being Adelaide United players and I wish them the best for the rest of their careers.
“It is unfortunate to be losing a player of Daniel’s quality, but if a player and his family are finding some things difficult then it is always best to find an amicable solution.
“Fans can rest assured that the club will recruit top-class players to complement the 20 players we already have on contract for next season.
“We currently have only three foreign players contracted, which gives us flexibility and options in filling the remaining spots in our squad.
“The recent announcements of Michael Jakobsen and Craig Goodwin are fantastic signs that quality footballers want to come to play at this club and under Marco Kurz.
“More additions to our squad will be announced in the near future.”
