Adelaide United’s Dane Johan Absalonsen was all smiles at Suncorp after his eye-catching display and his smashing winner in their 2-1 comeback victory over Brisbane Roar on Friday night.
“It’s perfect. I love the weather I love the football,” an ecstatic Absalonsen told Fox Sports following the late drama that consigned Roar to a second loss in as many weeks.
No such problems for the Reds though, who are unbeaten in two.
Absalonsen now has two goald in two for the Reds after his headed goal in the opening round against Phoenix in Wellington and his smashing extra time strike won the game.
“I think we were the best team after 1-1 and also after the first half in the second half we were the best team.
“It’s a deserved win but also a quality performance from the team. A perfect performance.
“It’s always difficult two matches on the road in a row but now we have four points and that’s a performance we can be proud of.”
The Reds’ fitness shone through.
After a tough pre-season they are now unbeaten in two after a couple of very difficult road trips to New Zealand and back then from Adelaide to the Queensland capital.
The Friday night win putting Victory on notice ahead of their clash next week, though Reds coach Marco Kurz lamented another slow start.
“Again we get a goal against us like in Wellington and we must work harder and harder and harder.
“But the team has the confidence that we can comeback. And we have the power that we can score in the last five minute.
“But in the future we must do a lot of things better,” the German said.
