Adelaide United sign promising attacker on scholarship contract

Adelaide United have signed promising teenage attacker Carlo Armiento on a youth scholarship contract for the Hyundai A-League 2018/19 season.

The 19-year-old joined United’s Foxtel Y-League squad in 2017/18 and netted 12 goals in all competitions with the club’s youth team in the National Premier League.

It comes a day after the Reds signed Apostolos Stamatelopoulos and Isaac Richards to senior contracts with the Hyundai A-League club.

An Adelaide City junior, Armiento is now the seventh player to progress to the senior side under the tutelage of youth team boss Paul Pezos.

He will wear the number 32 shirt for Marco Kurz’s side.

“This is probably a dream come true for me, especially after going through the youth team and to now be part of the first team at Adelaide United,” Armiento told Adelaide’s official website.

“Going into pre-season from the NPL season probably helped me because I was fit and already at a good level.

“I managed to put in a few good performances in the friendly games and every kid wants to play for their hometown team.

“That’s my next goal – getting game time in the A-League and continuing to progress and helping the team where I can.”
