Cross-code star Jenna McCormick scored the winner for Adelaide United helping the Reds defeat Melbourne Victory 2-1 on Friday night to end their season on a high.
McCormick, who also plays in the AFL Women’s comp, scored a second-half winner after US star Makenzy Doniak had opened the scoring for the Reds.
Rising star Kyra Cooney-Cross equalised for Victory before the break.
The hosts made the better start and took the lead in the 17th minute, Doniak producing a calm finish to open the scoring.
While Adelaide was on top, Victory struck four minutes prior to the break, Cooney-Cross levelling with her second goal of the season.
However, the Reds restored their lead in the 57th minute through McCormick.
While Victory had its chances in the closing stages – Melina Ayres, Lia Privitelli and MelindaJ Barbieri threatening – they were unable to find another equaliser.
