The Lady Reds showed why you can’t go by the ladder, winning only their second game of the season by beating Perth Glory 1-0.
The match started at an intense pace as both teams looked to press high. It was the Lady Reds import Katrine Pederson who started the action after having a free kick from 20 yards out being denied by the post.
Lady Reds keeper Melissa Barbieri was also kept busy as Gabrielle Marzano found space and time to deliver a stinging shot.
The half time score of 0-0 would’ve left the Lady Reds frustrated as they created many chances as Lisa-Marie Woods hit the woodwork too.
The deadlock was broken just after the second half. Lady Reds skipper Kristy Moore pounced on a placed ball with brilliant timing, using her pace and agility to beat Perth Glory keeper Mackenzie Arnold.
Perth Glory didn’t give in and looked to get the game on equal terms. It was Marzano again who was causing havoc but ultimately the Glory couldn’t break down a stingy Lady Reds defence.
For the Lady Reds, it’s a short turnaround as they face the in form Melbourne Victory on Wednesday the 29th.
