Adelaide star Goodwin named in FIFA22’s Team of the Season

Craig Goodwin’s stellar season in the Isuzu UTE A-League has been capped with his inclusion in FIFA22’s Rest of the World Team of the Season.

Goodwin soared to dizzying heights with Adelaide United in 2021-22, scoring 11 goals and supplying eight assists in 28 games as the Reds reached the semi-finals.

Goodwin’s EA Sports FIFA22 rating of 93 was only bettered by Shanghai Port’s Oscar (95) and Rangers captain James Tavernier (94).

The only A-League Men representative, Goodwin was joined in the team by Branco van den Boomen (Toulouse), Marko Livaja (Dinamo Zagreb), Bartholomew Ogbeche (Hyderabad), Ivi Lopez (Rakow Czestochowa), Florin Tanase (FCSB), Rasmus Kristensen (RB Salzburg), Vitaliy Buyalskyi (Dynamo Kyiv), Hong Jeong-Ho (Jeonbuk Motors), Adria Guerrero (FC Zurich), Fernando (Almeria), Khaled Narey (Fortuna Dusseldorf) and Baris Atik (FC Magdeburg).

Socceroo Goodwin, who became Adelaide’s all-time leading goalscorer in A-League Men history, led the league in chances created (87), with an ALM-high 38 of those chances came via set-plays – six more than anyone else.

Goodwin also ranked first in carries ending in a scoring chance created (22).

Only Serginho (17 in 2010-11) and Bruce Djite (11 in 2015-16) have scored more goals for Adelaide in an ALM season than Goodwin. His assists were just one shy of the most by a Red in a campaign since Opta began collecting the data in 2012-13 – Goodwin himself (nine in 2018-19) and Sergio Cirio (nine in 2014-15).
